Camus'un okuduğum bu ilk kitabında muazzam derece duygular yaşadım aynı zamanda bazı noktalarında duygusuz olduğumu da fark ettim.

Bu kitap Fransız kökenli Mr. Meursault'un nötr olarak yaşadığı bir hayatından bahsediyor. Tek yaşayan ve işçi olan bu adamın duygusuz (bana göre duygusuz ona göre varmış) bir yaşam sürerken bakımevine bıraktığı annesinin ölüm haberini alır ama ne bir üzüntü ne de bir sevinç yaşamaz (biz buna nötr diyoruz). Annesini gömdükten sonra evine geri döner ve yaşadığı hayata kaldığı yerden devam eder. Her zaman ki gibi işine gider ve kız arkadaşıyla denize yüzmeye gider. Arkadaşları annesinin ölümü sorsalar bile o yine soğukça cevap verir. Komşusu ve kız arkadaşlarıyla tatile giden Mr. Meusault arkadaşı Raymon'un davalısı ile karşı karşıya gelince arkadaşından aldığı silah ile Arab denilen davalısını öldürür. 

Savunması deniz kenarında güneş tepemdeyken onun bana saldıracağı korkusuyla ben ona saldırdım ve ona 5 el ateş ettim diyor. Kısaca güneş başıma geçti ve ne yaptığımı bilmiyorum demek istiyor çıktığı mahkemede. Yaklaşık 1 yıl hücrede kaldıktan sonra tekrar yargılanırken aslında annesinin ölümünden hemen sonra böyle normal bir yaşam süresi noktasında da yargılandı ve İdam mahkumu olarak yaşamı sona erdi. 

Ne kadar hiç bir şey, hiç bir kimse umrunda olmasa da ben Mr. Meursault'un aslında çocukken psikolojik sorunlar yaşadığını veya ailesinden gelen bir travmayı taşıdığını düşünüyorum. Babasının küçük yaşta ölmüş olması onsuz büyümüş olması babasının eskiden bir idamı izlemeye gitmiş demesi bana babasının da normal bir adam olmadığını Mr. Meursault düşünce tarzıyla aynı olduğu fikrini doğurdu. 

Neredeyse her şeye pür dikkat bakan, inceleyen bu kişinin aynı zamanda varlığını ve annesinin değerini önesemeyişi birini öldürmenin yanlış olduğunu bilmemesi veya bunu önemsemeyişi arkadaşına yardım edişi hakikaten ilginç bir felsefe yapısı doğurmuş Albert Camus. 

Nerdeyse 70 Yıl sonra bu kitaba bir cevap yazılmıştır...Kamel DAOUD tarafından yazılan Mr. Mersault Investigation kitabı sahilde öldürülüren Arab'a cevan yazılmıştır. Bu kitap henüz Türkçeye çevrilmemiştir. Çevrilince veya okuduktan sonra buraya ekleyebilirim.

In this first book of Camus that I read, I experienced an immense range of emotions, but I also realized at some points that I was emotionless.

This book talks about the life of Mr. Meursault, who is of French origin, living a neutral life. This man, who lives alone and works as a laborer, receives the news of his mother's death, whom he had left in a nursing home, while leading an emotionless (emotionless in my opinion, but he claims he has emotions) life, but he neither feels sadness nor joy (we call this neutral). After burying his mother, he returns home and continues his life from where he left off. As usual, he goes to work and goes swimming in the sea with his girlfriend. Even if his friends ask about his mother's death, he still responds coldly. Mr. Meusault, who goes on vacation with his neighbor and girlfriend, kills the Arab, the defendant, with a gun he took from his friend Raymon when he confronts the defendant.

His defense says, "While the sun was at its peak by the seaside, I attacked him out of fear that he would attack me, and I shot him five times." In short, he wants to say in the court he appeared in, "The sun was in my eyes, and I don't know what I was doing." After staying in a cell for about a year, he was retried and, in fact, was judged at a point where he could have lived a normal life right after his mother's death, but his life ended as a death row inmate.

Even tho nothing and no one seems to matter to him, I think Mr. Meursault actually had psychological problems as a child or carries a trauma from his family. The fact that his father died at a young age and he grew up without him, along with his father's claim of having once attended an execution, led me to think that his father was also not a normal man, and that Mr. Meursault shares a similar thot process.

Albert Camus, who scrutinizes almost everything with great attention, has created a truly interesting philosophical structure with his inability to appreciate his own existence and his mother's value, his ignorance or indifference to the wrongness of killing someone, and his act of helping a friend.

Almost 70 years later, a response has been written to this book. .. The book "Mr. Mersault Investigation," written by Kamel DAOUD, is a response to the Arab who was killed on the beach. This book has not yet been translated into Turkish. Once it is translated or after I read it, I can add it here.
